Why Does God Descend On Earth?

Why would God need to descend on Earth merely to perform the simple tasks of destroying the rakshas?

There are countless reasons for God's descensions, but the foremost reason is compassionate mercy on the souls. When God descends with a form and all His qualities, then He leaves behind His name, form, leelas, qualities and His abode, with the support of which countless souls are able to obtain His Divine Love.

Thus the main reason for descensions of God is so that humans can relate to, be attracted to and become attached to the form of God that is somewhat more within our grasp. His sole purpose is to show mercy and compassion to His children. The descensions allow us to form a human relationship with Him... relationships that we are already adept at.

What Is True Love?

True love is that where we only desire the pleasure of our beloved. When we make that our goal and proceed with that goal, then there can never be any fight in that relationship. That is the kind of love the Saints have for God. They only want the happiness of their beloved God, so there is no question of any fight.

If someone asks, “Why don’t the Saints want their own happiness?’ The answer is ‘”Because they have already attained their own happiness.” We are all looking for happiness, and they have attained God who is an ocean of bliss. So now they do not need to do anything for their own sake.

Just like if you take a pot, an empty pot, and you put it in the water, it makes a sound = putt putt putt putt putt….but once that pot is full it makes no sound – it does not make any sound. In the same way we have not attained that divine bliss so we are working for it, and everything that we do is for that sake.

But the Saints and God are full like that pot, so now they need to do no physical or mental work for their own sake and if they do anything it is for the sake of the others. That is why whatever work the Saint does; whether he speaks whether he eats, whether he talks – everything – it is not for his own sake, it is for the sake of the others. So that is the kind of love the God-realized Saints have.

Why Do People Commit Sin?

The main reason people commit sins and become lax in their principles is their privacy. When an individual thinks that he is being watched, he stays on the right path. But when he thinks no one is watching, his tendency to digress from the right path gets magnified. After all thieves, pick pockets commit their sins away from judging eyes.

We have a similar tendency. When we think some one is watching, we act honest, straight, kind, generous and devoted. We tend to slip easily when we think no one is watching. We act most naturally when we are in the bathroom because we think no one is watching. We are never that free and open in fron of our family, even our spouses. However, this privacy is far from the truth. Shri KrishnaGod, in the 'Paramatma' form is always with us in our hearts. He notes everything we think (not do) and subsequently uses this ledger to judge us and decide our fate for the next lifetime.

If we just realize that Shri Krishna God and Guru are is with us all the time, we will not have a tendency to do anything wrong. We will realize that they He is are watching. And if we do not think the right things, They He will not be happy with us. And we definitely want to please them Him... don't we?

Therefore, realize the truth that God and Guru are is with us ALL the time, keeping a watchful and loving eye on us. This realization will help you progress towards them God at exponential speeds.

Why Don’t We Feel Different After Bathing In The River Ganga?

One of the common questions is - the river Ganga is considered divine and is reputed to cleanse and purify us by washing away lifetimes of sins, however, even after bathing in and drinking from the river, we do not feel any different. People live by the river and bathe in it and drink from it daily, but the tendency to commit sins does not reduce a bit. Why?

If you take a glass bottle and fill it with stool and urine, then seal it and dip it in Ganga once, twice or even leave it there for days or years, and then open it. Would you be willing to drink from it? No?!! Well, now empty the bottle into Ganga. That does not prevent anyone from drinking from Ganga, knowing that many sewers and canals with filthy water merge into Ganga, people wash clothes and bathe in Ganga

Many people come to the river Ganga with the desire to purify themselves, and drink from it heartily. However, they do it without knowing the spiritual significance of Ganga. They do the external act of bathing and drinking, but do not know that it is the mind that has to have faith in the fact that Ganga is a divine river, and that it purifies our countless sins. We close the mind from benefiting from the divinity of Ganga. We do not believe that it is indeed the 'charan amrit' from the lotus feet of Shri Krishna. Try drinking it with the full faith that Ganga is the water that emerged when Brahma washed Shri Krishna's feet. It WILL purify your mind.

The truth is that we have not understood as to who has to do devotion. It is not the body, the hands, the legs, our tongue, our eyes, our ears, or for that matter, our soul. Then? It is our 'antahkaran' - the mind and heart, or simply put, the mind. The mind is the one who has to become pure in order to become eligible to receive divine love.

Always remember, it is only devotion done with the mind involved that Shri Krishna God considers as devotion. Any devotion done by the body without the mind involved is like a body without a soul (dead-body).
